Austin Birtel, 27, of Port Huron, Michigan, is facing felony charges in Kosciusko County after a child who left home in the county was found with him at a hotel in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Court documents cited in local reporting say the child left home in the early morning hours of Sept. 13. Investigators traced the man's cell phone to the Kalamazoo hotel, where police found the two together.
The man, 27, of Port Huron, Michigan, is charged with child solicitation and kidnapping. Those charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail with bond set at $70,500, according to the reporting, which drew on court documents and the Warsaw Times-Union.
